Faster claims approval is what Americans want most from health insurers
Core finding
When it comes to what a health insurance company can do for its members besides lowering costs, speed sits at the top of Americans' list: 44% count faster approval of claims and treatments among the most important ways to add value, according to a Verasight survey conducted March 6-16, 2026.
Nearly as many (41%) cite a large network of doctors and hospitals, while about a third (32%) want accurate cost estimates for procedures and 31% want the need for referrals eliminated. Smaller shares point to help understanding and using their health plan (26%), knowledgeable and empathetic customer service (24%), incentives or rewards for various activities (22%), help finding a new provider (13%), proactive outreach to navigate the health care system (11%), or something else (4%).
