More than a third of Americans (37%) say they do not follow any celebrities, sports teams, or political figures and institutions on social media, according to a September 2023 Verasight survey of 2,000 U.S. adults.

A celebrity (34%) and a sports team (34%) are the most widely followed, ahead of the President (22%). Fewer follow their governor or a government agency (15% each), their member of Congress (13%), or their Senators (12%).
