Six in ten Americans used an AI chatbot in the past month

Six-in-ten Americans (60%) say they asked a question to an AI chatbot in the past month, according to a Verasight survey conducted July 30-Aug. 4, 2025. Only watching television (91%) and conducting a search on a search engine (90%) rank higher.
Roughly a third (33%) say they read a newspaper over the same period, while smaller shares traded cryptocurrency (12%), used a virtual reality headset (7%), or rode in a self-driving car (3%). Just 1% report doing none of these things.
