Verasight surveyed 1,500 U.S. adults from September 16 to 21, 2026. 29.8% say a large data center is operating or planned within about 10 miles of home.

Planned data centers account for 20.3%, and already operating centers for 9.5%. Another 40.0% say neither is nearby and 30.2% are unsure. These are residents’ reports, not a verified inventory of facilities.
