More Americans think Republicans will hold both the Senate and the House after the 2026 midterms than predict any other result (36%), according to a Verasight survey of 3,000 U.S. adults conducted Sept. 22-29, 2025.

Roughly a quarter (26%) think Democrats will take both chambers instead. An additional 23% expect a Republican Senate alongside a Democratic House, and 14% foresee the reverse, a Democratic Senate with a Republican House.
