## Reading

About one-in-eight U.S. adults (13%) say they keep a loaded firearm that is also unlocked, with no key, combination, or fingerprint needed to get or fire it, according to a November 2025 Verasight survey. Another 21% keep loaded guns and say every one of them is locked.

A 58% majority say their homes hold no loaded firearms at all. The rest either aren't certain (3%) or decline to answer (5%).

## Topline

Are any of these loaded firearms also unlocked? By unlocked, we mean you do not need a key or a combination or a hand/fingerprint to get the gun or to fire it. Don’t count the safety as a lock.
