## Topline: Where Americans get news

Two-thirds of U.S. adults (67%) often get news from a smartphone, computer or tablet. Television is next at 37%, followed by radio at 10% and print at 8%.

The device habit holds in every age group. Among adults 65 and older, 59% often get news from a device, and among adults under 30 the share is 76%.

## Devices lead by a wide margin

About two-thirds of U.S. adults (67%) often get news from a smartphone, computer or tablet, and another 25% sometimes do, a combined 91%. Just 4% never get news from a device.

No age group has opted out. Adults under 30 are the most frequent users at 76% often, and even among adults 65 and older, 59% often get news on a device.

## Television, radio and print trail

Television is the closest competitor, with 37% of adults often getting news there. The habit divides sharply by age: 55% of adults 65 and older often get news from TV, compared with 13% of adults under 30.

Radio and print have faded further. Only 10% often get news from radio, and 62% rarely (32%) or never (30%) do.

Print is the smallest source: 8% often get news from printed newspapers or news magazines, 71% rarely (34%) or never (37%) do, and even among adults 65 and older only 13% often read news in print.

## Most adults still follow the news

Nearly half of U.S. adults (46%) follow the news all or most of the time, and another 36% follow it some of the time.

The habit is strongest among adults 65 and older, 65% of whom follow the news all or most of the time, compared with 31% of adults under 30.
