In a Verasight survey of 1,000 U.S. adults conducted Nov. 14-20, 2025, about half of Americans (51%) trust law enforcement or the military to talk with them about storing firearms safely.

Family or friends rank next at 29%, followed by healthcare providers (10%), community or faith leaders (9%), elected government officials (8%), teachers (8%), and just 2% who would turn to influencers or celebrities. About one-in-six (17%) trust none of these sources, while 11% are unsure.
