About one in seven Americans keep a loaded firearm at home

Whether a firearm is loaded is only a live question in homes that keep one. Half of Americans (51%) say there are no firearms kept in or around their home, according to a Verasight survey conducted Nov. 14-20, 2025.
Another 27% say none of their firearms are now loaded, and 14% say at least one is. Relatively few are unsure (3%) or prefer not to say (5%).
