Half say mothers running for office are like any other candidate
Core finding
Just over half of Americans (51%) agree that a mother who is a candidate is the same as any other person running for office, according to a January 2024 Verasight survey.
About four-in-ten say mothers are protective and will stand up for people who need them, and 31% say they are more effective because they know how to get things done. Far fewer agree with the critical statements: 10% say mothers have a big responsibility raising children and should not hold elected office, and 7% say mothers cannot handle the aggressiveness of politics.
