Most Americans reject making transgender people post a sign outside their home
Core finding
Roughly seven-in-ten Americans (69%) disagree that transgender people should have to post a sign outside their home identifying themselves, including half (50%) who strongly disagree, according to a January 2024 Verasight survey.
Fewer than one-in-five (18%) agree, among them 6% who strongly agree, while 14% take neither side.
