In a Verasight survey conducted Aug. 13-18, 2025, about half of Americans (46%) reject the statement that a parent didn't seem to notice when they were upset or struggling as children. About 16% completely disagree.

Close to four-in-ten (38%) say the statement fit their childhood, including 9% who completely agree, while the rest are neutral.
