The belief that generosity also rewards the giver has broad backing. Nearly three-quarters of Americans (72%) agree that when a person does much for the good of others, he or she profits as well, including 19% who strongly agree, according to a Verasight survey conducted Jan. 18-24, 2024.

Just 7% disagree, and 21% neither agree nor disagree.
