T-shirts and shorts are Americans' summer wardrobe staples
Reading
T-shirts and shorts anchor the American summer wardrobe: eight-in-ten Americans (80%) wear a T-shirt at least once a week in summer and nearly three-quarters (74%) reach for shorts, according to a December 2025 Verasight survey of 1,000 U.S. adults.
No other item comes close, with fewer than one-in-five wearing leggings (18%), swim trunks (18%), blouses (17%), or skirts (15%) that often, and just 1% wear none of these.
