A majority of Americans (57%) say faith, religion or spirituality does little or nothing to shape how they undergo a medical procedure and experience pain, including 46% for whom it has no influence at all, according to a Verasight survey conducted Nov. 14-20, 2025.

About one-in-five (21%) are neutral on the question, while 22% say faith shapes the experience at least somewhat, including 12% who say it matters very much.
