Nearly eight-in-ten Americans (79%) use one or none of four common substances (alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, or vaped nicotine) in a typical week, including 44% who use none at all and 35% who use just one.

The remaining one-in-five report heavier use: 13% average two substances a week, 4% average three, and 3% use all four, according to a Verasight survey conducted Nov. 19-22, 2024.
