Deep worry about a sudden layoff is scarce. Just 15% of Americans say they are very or extremely worried about facing unexpected job loss, including 6% who are extremely worried, an April 2024 Verasight survey finds.

The calm side is far larger: 41% say they are not at all or a little worried, including 23% who are not at all worried. An additional 18% are somewhat worried, and 26% are not currently employed.
