Housing costs take up a large share of monthly income

In a Verasight survey of 1,000 U.S. adults conducted May 22 to 24, 2024, 28% of Americans said they spend 31% or more of their monthly income on housing.
The rest were split across lower housing-cost brackets: 25% said they spend 11% to 20% of monthly income on housing, 24% said 21% to 30%, and 23% said 0% to 10%.
