In a Verasight survey of 1,000 U.S. adults conducted July 14 to 24, 2025, 79% of Americans disagreed that a second civil war would be an acceptable way to resolve disagreements between Democrats and Republicans. This includes 59% who strongly disagree, 16% who disagree, and 5% who somewhat disagree.

Few Americans agreed (9%), with 5% who somewhat agree, 3% who strongly agree, and 1% who agree. Another 12% were neutral.
