Seven-in-ten Americans feel politically misunderstood at least sometimes
Core finding
In a Verasight survey of 1,000 U.S. adults conducted March 6 to 16, 2026, 69% of Americans said they at least sometimes feel that not enough people understand how they think about politics. This includes 10% who always feel this way, 20% who often do, and 39% who sometimes do.
About three-in-ten said they rarely or never feel this way (31%), with 19% who said rarely and 12% who said never.
