More than half say the government doesn't do enough to help low-income people afford housing
Core finding
A majority of Americans say the government does not do enough to make housing affordable for people with low incomes, with 54% disagreeing that it provides enough support, including 30% who strongly disagree, according to a Verasight survey conducted Feb. 28 to March 6, 2025.
Fewer than three-in-ten take the opposite view (28%), including 11% who strongly agree that the support is adequate, while 18% land in the middle.
