Roughly eight-in-ten Americans (81%) say climate change belongs in the K-12 curriculum in some form, according to an April 2024 Verasight survey. That includes 65% who say schools should teach about climate change and its impacts on the environment, society, and the future.

A smaller share (16%) would keep lessons to the causes of climate change without covering how it affects society or the future, while 19% say schools should not teach anything about it.
