Six in ten assume a lawmaker pushing free preschool is a woman

Presented with a bill to provide free preschool for children through age 5, most Americans (62%) picture the member of Congress behind it as a woman, according to a Verasight survey conducted Oct. 1-11, 2024.
Roughly a quarter (28%) say they cannot guess the sponsor's gender, while just 10% picture a man.
