State probes of ultra-processed food advertising have six-in-ten support among Americans

In a Verasight survey of 1,000 U.S. adults conducted March 6 to 16, 2026, 61% of Americans supported state attorneys general conducting investigations into how food companies make and advertise ultra-processed packaged foods. Including 26% who strongly support and 35% who support.
About one in ten opposed the investigations (10%), with 6% who oppose and 4% who strongly oppose. Another 29% were neutral.
