Three-quarters wouldn't hesitate to call 911 over a body after a violent assault
Core finding
Confronted with a hypothetical scenario of coming across a body left by a violent assault while alone, three-in-four Americans (75%) say they would be not at all hesitant to call 911, according to a Verasight survey conducted May 11, 2026.
The rest register some reluctance: 11% would be slightly hesitant, 8% somewhat hesitant, and about 3% each very or extremely hesitant.
