A nearby data center would make many Americans more likely to move
Core finding
Verasight surveyed 1,000 U.S. adults from August 13 to 18, 2026. 42.5% say a data center within two miles of home would make them more likely to move; 50.8% would be no more or less likely to stay or are unsure.
A stronger desire to move accounts for 24.5%, and a somewhat stronger desire for 18.0%. The combined neutral-or-unsure option does not separate people who would stay from those who are uncertain.
Topline distribution
A nearby data center would make many Americans more likely to move.
