Half of Americans don't drink and skipped Dry January
Core finding
Most Americans sat out Dry January in 2025: 92% did not participate, combining the 51% who do not drink alcohol at all and the 41% who drink but skipped it, according to a November 2025 Verasight survey.
That leaves fewer than one-in-ten Americans (8%) who attempted Dry January at all, including 6% who made it through the month without drinking; the rest tried but ended up having alcohol.
