In a Verasight survey of 1,000 U.S. adults conducted May 1 to 4, 2026, 70% of Americans agreed at least slightly that people like them are expected to handle much more than others.
That includes 22% who strongly agreed, 24% who agreed, and 24% who slightly agreed. About one in five disagreed at least slightly.
