Most Americans voted in an election over the past two years
Core finding
Voting tops the list of political actions Americans say they have taken over the past two years: 72% report voting in a national or local election, according to a Verasight survey conducted March 6-16, 2026.
Smaller shares say they contacted a public official or attended a political forum (24%), put up a sign, wore a button, or posted on social media about a political issue (21%), donated to a candidate or a social cause (17%), worked with others on a problem facing their city or neighborhood (17%), or attended a protest, march, or rally (12%). One-in-five (20%) say they did none of these.
