Core finding

In a Verasight survey of 1,000 U.S. adults conducted Oct. 1-11, 2024, 51% say they currently own their home.

Renters make up 30% of Americans, including 21% who have never owned a home, while 17% have another living arrangement, such as living with family or student housing, including 7% who owned a home in the past. The remaining 2% prefer not to say.
