Core finding

A slim majority of Americans (54%) know or suspect that someone in their life applied to have student debt cancelled, including 19% who say they know for sure, according to a Verasight survey conducted Jan. 18-24, 2024.

The rest of that group put it at somewhat likely (20%) or very likely (15%). On the other side, 19% are sure no one they know applied, and another 27% see it as unlikely.
