Almost everyone calls communication skills important

Nearly all Americans (94%) consider written and spoken communication skills at least somewhat important, including 49% who call them extremely important, according to a July 2025 Verasight survey.
About three-in-ten (31%) rate them very important and 14% somewhat important, leaving small shares who see the skills as not too important (4%) or not at all important (3%).
